Privacy Policy

At iz, we care about your privacy. This policy explains which data is processed while you use the app, how it is protected and where it is stored.

1. Where is your data stored?

iz has no server of its own. Your writing, photos, videos and voice recordings are stored on your device and, if you have connected it, in your own Google Drive account. The app does not send your content to us or to any other server.

2. Data stored on your device

Some data is kept locally on your device so the app can work:

  • Journal entries — SQLite database
  • Session information — encrypted MMKV storage
  • Sync queue — encrypted MMKV storage
  • App preferences and settings

This data is protected by your device’s security and the operating system’s encryption.

3. Artificial intelligence

iz does not use artificial intelligence. Your writing, voice recordings and photos are not sent to any AI service.

4. Parents and child profiles

iz is designed for adults, especially parents. The account always belongs to the parent. A parent can create profiles for their children under their own account and manages those profiles; children do not open a separate account. No email address, age or other identifying information is collected for child profiles. The content of child profiles is also stored on the parent’s device and in the parent’s cloud account.

5. Third-party services

Your data is never sold or shared for advertising. iz works only with these services:

  • Google Sign-In and the Google Drive API — signing in and storing files in your Drive account
  • Sign in with Apple — signing in
  • RevenueCat — managing the status of your Extra subscription

In-app purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play; your payment details never reach us. RevenueCat processes an anonymous user ID and purchase records to verify your subscription; it does not access your journal content.

6. Deleting your data

When you delete your account, the local data on your device is removed and the app’s access permissions are revoked. Content in Google Drive stays in your account and can be deleted from Google Drive.

7. Security

iz uses modern security standards:

  • TLS (HTTPS) encryption on every network connection
  • Encrypted local storage
  • Secure token handling
  • Hashed verification of PINs

PINs are never stored as plain text.

8. Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The current version is always at iz.enginar.dev/en/privacy.
